Nascer is a lively, energetic young boy whom I meet following a request for help from the teacher with the agreement of his parents, as Nascer’s behavioural problems are not conducive to learning. How can we help this boy in distress and help him come to terms with himself and learning? Violent outbursts occur in response to frustrations, and Nascer may strike out or prevent others from working. He doesn’t recognise his mistakes, any comment about his behaviour is rejected, it’s other people’s fault, he has difficulties in several areas. The younger of two siblings, Nascer Armstrong, aged 7 years 8 months, is in CE1 class, while his older sister, aged 10, is in CM1. Their parents from Layosse separated five years ago, so Nascer and his sister live with their mother. The father, who has started a new life and has three daughters, has recently started coming over to look after Nascer and his sister at night while their mother is away. Often in conflit with his peers, even with his sister, and despite the adjustments, Nascer’s behaviour remains highly unpredictable, with a crisis occurring at any time. The data on Nascer comes mainly from the request made to the Rased by his school, interviews, observations and meetings.
