Resumo
Diante o desenvolvimento e rápidas transformações da sociedade, é necessário, cada
vez mais, projetar e tornar a arquitetura apta para acompanhar as constantes mudanças,
tornando assim o tema, flexibilidade na arquitetura: o caso das vilas operárias com galeria
exterior, pertinente para a reflexão sobre a arquitetura e para adaptação das habitações antigas
para a contemporaneidade.
O tema escolhido engloba as áreas científicas de Projeto de Arquitetura, História de
Arquitetura, Teoria da Arquitetura, Ambiente e Sociedade.
Este trabalho de investigação procura mostrar o potencial das vilas operárias de Lisboa,
mais especificamente as vilas operárias com características tipológicas de galeria exterior,
aproveitando a localização central que têm para revitalizá-las e reabitá-las, tornando-as espaços
com grande potencial através da flexibilidade, já que neste momento, por causa do grande e
rápido desenvolvimento, as vilas operárias, que são lugares com história, encontram-se
esquecidas e abandonadas.
Será elaborada uma análise, que terá por base a localização, o contexto histórico, o
contexto atual, a morfologia e o seu estado atual, que servirá de base para a elaboração da
revitalização de uma vila operária, ajustando-a às necessidades atuais e mostrando a
importância da revitalização destes bairros.

Given the development and the rapid transformations of the society it is necessary every time more projecting and turning the architecture able to join the constant changes, making the theme flexibility on the architecture: the case of the operators’ villas with exterior halls of Lisbon pertinent for reflecting about architecture and increasing the knowledge about the adaptations of the housing locations for the contemporaneity. The chosen subject includes the scientific areas of Architecture’s Projection, History of the Architecture, Theory of the Architecture and Environment and Society. This job looks forward to show the potential of the operators’ villas of Lisbon, more specifically of the ones with typological characteristics of their exterior halls, taking advantage of the central localization that they have for rehabilitating and re-habiting them, being sequentially turned into spaces with great potential considering that in the times as a consequence of the huge and fast development this villas, which are places with grate history remain forgotten and abandoned. An analysis will be made that approach the notions of their localization, their historical and contemporary context and their actual state that will work as a foundation for the elaboration of a labor villa adjusting it for the actual necessities and showing the importance of the rehabilitation of these neighborhoods.
