Resumo
O padre António Vieira escreveu uma obra de circunstância – as cartas, os sermões e os papéis –, que ele chegou a apelidar
de «choupanas», e uma obra de grande investigação – a Chave dos Profetas –, que também apelida de «palácios
altíssimos». Em todos os textos perpassa uma teologia retórico-humanista, que ele partilha com muitos dos pensadores do
seu tempo, e com os seus confrades em particular. O inovador desta teologia é que ela faz também recurso a «novas»
fontes (a reflexão histórica e a espiritualidade jesuíta) e a novas inspirações (próprias de Vieira) que a tornam única e
merecedora de um aprofundamento que ainda não foi feito.
The father Antonio Vieira wrote a work of circumstance – letters, sermons and papers – that he call «choupanas» [huts], and a work of great research – The Key of the Prophets – who he also calls «palácios altíssimos» [towering palaces]. In all these texts there is a rhetorical-humanistic theology, which he shares with many thinkers of his time, and particularly with its confreres. The innovative of this theology is that it also makes use of «new» sources (historical reflection and Jesuit spirituality) and new inspirations (from Vieira himself) that make it unique and deserving of a deepening that has not been done.
