Ao longo do seculo XX o betão armado foi ganhando espaço na construção portuguesa
como o principal material para uso estrutural. Este espalhou-se a todos os géneros de construção,
independentemente se era a solução mais eficiente para cada caso específico. Fora de Portugal o betão armado tem que concorrer com outros sistemas construtivo, que em muitos dos casos são
mais eficientes. Um desses sistemas é o Light Steel Framing, usado um pouco por todo o mundo como uma alternativa ao betão armado.
Hoje em dia procura-se encontrar soluções para uma construção mais sustentável e amiga do ambiente. Neste campo o betão armado começa a perder valias face a outros sistemas
construtivos mais eficientes e racionais. Essas soluções, em muitos dos casos, são mais
económicas para se construir e para se manter.
O ritmo acelerado dos dias de hoje também se reflete na construção. Sistemas racionais
como Light Steel Framing permitem uma construção muito mais rápida, eficiente e com poucos desperdícios. A qualidade de construção deste tipo de edifícios vai-se refletir na qualidade de vida
dos seus ocupantes.
Ter uma alternativa credível à construção tradicionalmente feita em Portugal é o primeiro passo para um futuro mais económico, sustentável e de qualidade.
Throughout the twentieth century, concrete was the main structural material used in Portuguese construction. In that time concrete spread to all kinds of construction, regardless if it was the most efficient solution for each specific case. Outside Portugal the concrete has to compete with other constructive systems, which in many cases are more efficient. One of those systems is the Light Steel Framing, which is used all over the world as an alternative to concrete. Nowadays we try to find a construction system solution more sustainable and friendly to the environment. In that field concrete begins to lose to other building systems that are more efficient and rational. Those solutions, in many cases, are more economical to build and to maintain. The fast pace of today is reflected in the construction. Rational systems such Light Steel Framing allow to build much more quickly, efficiently and with little waste. The quality of construction of such buildings will be reflected in the quality of life of the occupants. Having a credible alternative to the traditionally construction made in Portugal is the first step to a brighter future economically, sustainable and with quality.
