The prevalence of Personality Disorders in the prison population is high. The Psychopathy is a personality disorder where it’s most violente expression is criminal behavior. The aim of this study was to characterize the population inmates and ex-inmates in the process of insertion to the community, in the last 10 years (2005-2015), based on the assessment of the Personality Disorders and in particular the Psychopathy. A convenience sample was used, collected in the Association “O Companheiro”, IPSS, composed of 45 male, 30 inmates (66.7%) and 15 ex-inmates (33.3%) with age between the 20 and 64 years (M=43.11; DP= 9.80). The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE; Folstein, Folstein & McHugh, 1975; portuguese version Morgado, Rocha, Maruta, Guerreiro & Martins, 2009), the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+ (PDQ-4+; Hyler, 1994; portuguese version Henriques-Calado & Duarte-Silva, 2009) and the Psychopathy Checklist Revised (PCL-R; Hare, 2003; portuguese version Gonçalves, 2001) were applied. The results showed no psychopathy traits in both groups (inmates and ex-inmates). The Antisocial Personality Disorder proved to be the best predictor of psychopathy in both groups. For future research, it is suggested to carry out studies of the prevalence of personality disorders in Portuguese prisons.
