Resumo
A presente dissertação intitulada Perfil e Expectativas dos Alunos das Academias Séniores, A Dimensão da Gestão. O Caso do Concelho de Loures, surge no âmbito do Mestrado de Serviço Social: Gestão de Unidades Sociais e de Bem-estar, tem como temática o envelhecimento da população idosa, e como objecto de estudo as três estruturas não formais de apoio socioeducativo, todas elas sediadas no concelho de Loures, como é o caso da Academia Sénior de São João da Talha, Academia dos Saberes de Sacavém e de Loures.
O envelhecimento inscreve-se, em termos teóricos, na problemática da articulação entre intervenção social com pessoas idosas e a gerontologia social.
Em termos mais específicos, o presente trabalho de investigação pretende aferir o perfil e expectativas dos alunos das Academias Séniores do concelho de Loures, relativamente às suas experiências nas Academias, assim como perceber as formas de organização e gestão existentes, ao nível dos recursos humanos, financeiros e de espaços físicos.
Relativamente aos alunos, situamo-nos numa abordagem quantitativa dos factos, privilegiando a importância de um conhecimento objectivo desses fenómenos sociais, produzido em relação com os actores concretos nos contextos onde desenvolvem a sua acção. Num universo de 1366 foram aplicados 277 inquéritos auto administrados aos alunos. Foi também desenvolvida uma abordagem qualitativa através das técnicas de entrevistas semi-directivas exploratórias, duas, (Presidente e aluno das Academias Seniores), acrescido de outras duas entrevistas exploratórias (Coordenador da AS de Sacavém e Loures) e ainda pesquisa documental. Toda a informação recolhida foi alvo de tratamento qualitativo e quantitativo, através da análise de conteúdo e tratamento de dados pelo programa software informático Excel.
No que diz respeito aos resultados da investigação, confirma-se uma maior propensão da população feminina nas Academias Seniores (64%), a média de idades é de 67 anos e os alunos são maioritariamente casados (61,3%). Da amostra, 43% possuem curso superior e 25% frequentaram o ensino secundário. A média de filhos é de 1,7 e as preocupações dos alunos subdividem-se entre a área da saúde e a segurança no meio envolvente.
As maiores preocupações dos alunos das AS situam-se ao nível da saúde e da segurança e a sua satisfação pelo projecto é significativamente positiva.
The present dissertation titled Profile and Expectations of the Students of the Senior Academies, The Dimension of the Management. The Case of the Municipality of Loures comes under the Master of Social Work: Management of Social Units and Well-being, has as its theme the aging of the elderly population, and as object of study the three non-formal structures of socio-educational support, all of which are located in the municipality of Loures, such as the São João da Talha Senior Academy, Sacavém and Loures Academy of Knowledge. Aging is theoretically part of the problematic of the articulation between social intervention with elderly people and social gerontology. In more specific terms, this research aims to assess the profile and expectations of the students of the Senior Academies of the county of Loures, in relation to their experiences in the Academies, as well as to understand the existing forms of organization and management, in terms of human resources, financial and physical spaces. With regard to students, we are focusing on a quantitative approach to the facts, emphasizing the importance of an objective knowledge of these social phenomena, produced in relation to the concrete actors in the contexts where they develop their action. In a universe of 1366, 277 self-administered surveys were administered to students. A qualitative approach was also developed through the techniques of exploratory semi-directive interviews, two (President and student of the Senior Academies), plus two other exploratory interviews (Coordinator of the AS of Sacavém and Loures) as well as documentary research. All the information collected was subjected to qualitative and quantitative treatment, through content analysis and data processing by the Excel software program. Regarding the research results, a higher propensity of the female population in the Senior Academies (64%) is confirmed, the average age is 67 years and the students are mostly married (61.3%). Of the sample, 43% had a college degree and 25% attended secondary education. The average number of children is 1.7 and the students' concerns are subdivided between the area of health and safety in the surrounding environment. The major concerns of AS students are in terms of health and safety and their satisfaction with the project is significantly positive.
