Resumo
A presente dissertação de Mestrado aborda a temática da reabilitação de edifícios
antigos que apresentam, à luz dos conceitos atuais, um valor cultural que justifica a sua
preservação.
O objeto de estudo é um prédio pombalino de rendimento situado na Praça D.
Pedro IV, em Lisboa.
Após os estudo das características essenciais da arquitetura pombalina, verifica-se
em que medida o edifício estudado corresponde a essa tipologia edificatória e em que
medida ainda possui elementos autênticos e íntegros que justifiquem a sua preservação.
Tendo por base o conhecimento da situação, é apresentada uma estratégia de
projeto arquitetónico de reabilitação.
A estratégia de projeto apresentada pretende verificar, na prática, a forma de
atualizar os prédios pombalinos às exigências da vida atual, sem diminuição do valor

This Master's thesis addresses the issue of rehabilitation of old buildings that, in the light of current concepts, have a cultural value that justifies their preservation. The object of study is a Pombaline building in D. Pedro IV Square, in the downtown of Lisbon. After studying the essential characteristics of Pombaline architecture, it is verified to what extent the studied building corresponds to this building typology and to what extent it still has authentic and intact elements that justify its preservation and rehabilitation. Based on the knowledge of the situation, it’s presented a strategy and proposal for an architectural project for the rehabilitation of the building. The project strategy presented intends to verify, in practice, the way of updating the Pombaline buildings to the demands of current life, without diminishing their cultural value.
