Nos últimos anos tem-se verificado um interesse crescente no comportamento e bem-estar animal. A medicina do comportamento é já uma (sub) especialidade reconhecida pelo Conselho Europeu de Especialização Veterinária. No entanto, os problemas de comportamento continuam a ser uma das principais causas de abandono e eutanásia. Existem vários tipos de abordagem aos problemas comportamentais, que utilizam diferentes terminologias e classificações. Este trabalho segue a abordagem da Escola Francesa. Segundo esta Escola, as principais alterações comportamentais nos cães são a hipersensibilidade e hiperatividade, a síndrome de privação, as fobias, as sociopatias e os problemas do apego.
O presente relatório de estágio foi elaborado no âmbito do Estágio Curricular para conclusão do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária na Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, tendo como tema principal os problemas comportamentais do cão. Este estágio curricular decorreu de 1 de janeiro 2015 a 1 de julho de 2015 na clínica veterinária de Ocres, em Coustellet, França, sob orientação do Dr. Emmanuel Gaultier. Durante esse período foram seguidos 31 casos, dos quais se selecionaram 4, que representam as alterações comportamentais mais frequentes no cão: sociopatia, fobia simples, hipersensibilidade e hiperatividade e síndrome de privação.
In recent years, there has been increasing interest in animal behaviour and welfare. Behavioural medicine is already a (sub) specialty recognized by the European Council of Veterinary Specialization. However, behavioural problems remain a major cause of neglect and euthanasia. There are several types of approach to behavioural problems, which use different terminologies and classifications. This work follows the approach of the French School. According to this School, the main behavioural changes in dogs are hypersensitivity and hyperactivity, deprivation syndrome, phobias, sociopathy and attachment problems. This internship report was prepared within the scope of the Curricular Internship for the conclusion of the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies, with the main theme being the dog's behavioural problems. This internship was held from January 1, 2015 to July 1, 2015 at the Veterinary Clinic of Ocres, Coustellet, France, under the guidance of Dr. Emmanuel Gaultier. During this period, 31 cases were followed, of which 4 were chosen, representing the most frequent behavioural changes in the dog: sociopathy, simple phobia, hypersensitivity and hyperactivity, and deprivation syndrome.
