A doença do trato urinário inferior felino (FLUTD) é descrita como qualquer condição que afete a bexiga ou uretra dos gatos. Independentemente da causa subjacente, FLUTD é caracterizada pelos seguintes sinais: disúria, polaquiúria, estrangúria, hematúria ou periúria. Estes sinais do trato urinário inferior não são específicos para uma doença em particular, podendo ser encontrados em gatos que têm cálculos urinários, infeções bacterianas do trato urinário, anormalidades anatômicas e neoplasias urinárias entre outras. Quando uma causa subjacente definida não é identificada, o termo "cistite idiopática felina" é frequentemente usado. A evolução para um quadro de obstrução pode causar falência renal aguda, pelo bloqueio do fluxo urinário ou como resultado de distúrbios metabólicos e hidroeletrolíticos ocorridos pela não eliminação da urina. Este trabalho consiste numa revisão da bibliografia atual sobre o tema e termina com a apresentação de três casos clínicos na espécie felina, com idades compreendidas entre 5 e 7 anos, com doença do trato urinário inferior, desde a sua admissão até a sua alta clínica, acompanhados durante o período de estágio, na Clínica Veterinária Vallecamonica.
Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is described as any condition that affects the bladder or urethra of cats. Regardless of the underlying cause, FLUTD is characterized by the following signs: dysuria, pollakiuria, stranguria, hematuria, or periuria. These lower urinary tract signs are not specific to a particular disease. They can be found in cats that have urinary stones, bacterial infections of the urinary tract, anatomical abnormalities and urinary neoplasms. When a definite underlying cause is ìnot identified, the term."feline,idiopathic/interstitial cystitis" is often used. The progression to an obstruction can cause acute renal failure, by blocking the urinary flow or as a result of metabolic and hydroelectrolytic disorders that occur by not eliminating the urine. This work consists of a review of the current literature on the subject and ends with the presentation of three clinical cases in the feline species, aged between 5 and 7 years, with lower urinary tract disease, from their admission to their clinical discharge, during the internship period at the Veterinary Clinic Vallecamonica.
