Resumo
Tendo como ponto de partida o estudo do Espaço Público, a presente da dissertação debruça se, fundamentalmente, sobre a tipologia da praça. Este tema surge na necessidade de obter
resposta e contributos a incluir na intervenção realizada no Largo Actor Dias que foi desenvolvida
na unidade curricular de projecto.
Na elaboração da dissertação foi investigado o tema seleccionado e que constitui o corpo
teórico conceptual, tendo ainda para o efeito sido o mesmo enquadrado e relacionado com o
local de intervenção. Para o efeito, estudámos o desenvolvimento e a evolução urbana da ara de
intervenção através da revisão bibliográfica e analisámos projectos congéneres, sob a forma de
casos de estudo, tendo retirado dos mesmos informações e efectuando algumas conclusões sobre
a forma de investigar.
A estrutura da dissertação foi desenvolvida num primeiro momento por uma parte teórica e
seguidamente por uma parte pratica. Em relação à parte teórica foi abordado a evolução dos
conceitos do Espaço Público, analisando diferentes abordagens de diversos autores.
Seguidamente foi analisado a evolução urbana da cidade do Porto, dando maior destaque à época
contemporânea até a actualidade. Para melhor compreensão da área de intervenção, é
igualmente, realizada uma análise mais aprofundada do local.
Num segundo momento, a parte prática é realizado a análise de casos de estudo, na cidade do
Porto, analisando os projectos de cada arquitecto compreendendo as soluções encontradas para
as diferentes problemáticas. Com a análise dos estudos de casos conclui que é possível
requalificar os espaços públicos, adequando-os às funções sociais atuais de vivência urbana,
mantendo as suas caraterísticas e funções centrais na cidade.
Por último, é apresentada a proposta de intervenção juntamente com as decisões tomadas
que foram influenciadas pelos casos de estudo. A proposta de intervenção teve influência directa
nos seguintes casos de estudo: Praça de Carlos Alberto, à sua semelhança mantendo geometria
original; e a Praça de D. João I com a utilização de uma escadaria de forma a solucionar a
diferença de cotas.
Em conclusão, o processo de desenvolvimento das opções realizadas no projecto de
requalificação do espaço urbano teve a influência dos casos de estudo ao nível da forma de
equacionar o projeto do ponto de vista da sua funcionalidade e do seu desenho considerando aos
seguintes aspectos: fisionomia original, desmaterialização do muro e solucionar as cotas
diferenciadas na forma de equacionar e solucionar os problemas encontrados ao longo do
processo de criação da proposta final.
Taking as a starting point the study of the Public Space, the present dissertation focuses, fundamentally, on the typology of the square. This theme arises in the need to obtain an answer and contributions to include in the intervention carried out in Largo Actor Dias that was developed in the project curricular unit. In the elaboration of the dissertation, the selected theme was investigated, which constitutes the conceptual theoretical body, and for that purpose it was also framed and related to the place of intervention. For this purpose, we studied the development and urban evolution of the intervention area through a bibliographic review and analyzed similar projects, in the form of case studies, having extracted the same information and carrying out some information on how to investigate. The structure of the dissertation was initially developed by a theoretical part and then by a practical part. Regarding the theoretical part, the evolution of the concepts of the Public Space was approached, analyzing different approaches by different authors. Then, the urban evolution of the city of Porto was analyzed, giving greater prominence to the contemporary era until today. For a better understanding of the intervention area, a more in-depth analysis of the site is also carried out. In a second step, the practical part is carried out the analysis of case studies, in the city of Porto, analyzing the projects of each architect, understanding the solutions found for the different problems. With the analysis of the case studies, it concludes that it is possible to requalify public spaces, adapting them to the current social functions of urban living, maintaining their central characteristics and functions in the city. Finally, the intervention proposal is presented together with the decisions taken that were influenced by the case studies. The intervention proposal had a direct influence on the following case studies: Praça de Carlos Alberto, similarly maintaining original geometry; and D. João I Square with the use of a staircase in order to solve the difference in quotas. In conclusion, the process of developing the options carried out in the urban space requalification project had the influence of the case studies in terms of how to equate the project from the point of view of its functionality and design considering the following aspects: original physiognomy , dematerialization of the wall and solving the differentiated quotas in the way of equating and solving the problems found during the process of creating the final proposal.
