indicadores desportivos.
Lesions of the palmar and plantar face of the cannon bone are frequent in equine medicine, causing loss of performance and economic. The objective of this study was to analyze 29 cases of horses with ligamentous and tendon lesions of the palmar or plantar faces of the cannon bone and to correlate the data obtained with sports indicators. Horses with clinical signs of palmar or plantar soft tissue lesion and with ultrasound lesion were included. Clinical records, rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation and return times were analyzed. From the correlations between the clinical records and the sports indicators, only a significant difference was detected in the following 3 variables: the horses analyzed in Spain had 2.78 months of post-rehabilitation training time, and 1.53 in Portugal; horses with claudication had 5.11 months of rehabilitation time, while horses without claudication had 3, horses with exclusive rehab in the field had a time of return to competition of 9.67 months and with rehabilitation with gradual work had 6.09. The small size of the sample and the absence of normal distribution of results may justify the absence of other significant relationships between clinical data and sports indicators.
