Resumo
A dependência de álcool associa
- se a um défice nas funções cognitivas. Esta investigação teve como objectivos:
(1)avaliar o impacto de um programa de estimulação
cognitiva
com recurso a aplicações móveis para
‘tablet’,
no funcionamento cognitivo,
em
pacientes com diagnóstico de dependência de álcool
, durante o tratamento de abstinência
;
e
(2)
verificar a usabilidade do equipamento e das aplicações u
tilizadas. Para tal, foram
sele
cionados 38 participantes que se dividiram em dois grupos, o grupo de con
trolo (N=20),
sem estimulação, e o grupo experimental (N=18), com inte
rvenção com tecnologia móvel
. Os
dois grupos foram avaliados através de uma bateria de testes neuropsicológicos, no início e
final do tratamento. A intervenção decorreu durante o mês de
internamento, realizando
-
se 10
sessões de estimulação. O programa incidiu nas funções que
geralmente
se encontram em
défice, nesta população, como é o caso da atenção, memória, memória de trabalho, funções
executivas e capacidades visuo
-
espaciais. Os resul
tados obtidos revelam o impacto positivo
da estimulação nas funções executivas, especialmente na flexibilidade mental, comportamento
preseverativo, conceptualização,
planeamento, raciocínio abstra
to, exploração organizada
através do
‘
feedback
’
ambiental e
controlo inibitório. O

, é considerado um produto aceitável para utilizar enquanto equipamento de
apoio para a estimulação. Conclui

se, assim, que a estimulação cognitiva com recurso a
aplicações móveis em
‘tablet’ tem efeitos positivos no funcionamento executivo dos
dependentes de álcool.
Alcohol dependence has been associated to specific cognitive impairments. The purpose of this study was: 1) to assess the effect of a cognitive stimulation program in cognitive functioning of patients with alcohol dependence, using mobile applications running in a tablet during treat ment withdrawal; and 2) to assess the usability of the equipment and applications that were used. To accomplish this goal, 38 participants were selected and divided in two groups, the control group (N=20), without stimulation, and the experimental group (N=18), using mobile technology. At the beginning and end of the treatment, both groups were assessed using a neuropsychological battery. Intervention was performed during the one month of treatment, through 10 sessions of cognitive stimulation. The program focused on functions that are usually impaired in this population, such as attention, memory, working memory, executive functions and visuospatial ability. The results show a positive effect of intervention on executive functions, especially on mental flexibility, perseverative responding, concept formation, planning, abstract reasoning, organized researches through environmental feedback and inhibitory control. In this population, the intervention that was carried out was considered an acceptable product to be used as assistive equipment to cognitive stimulation. In conclusion, the cognitive stimulation using mobile technology has positive effects in executive functions of individuals with alcohol dependence.
