Resumo
Ao longo dos últimos anos o ensino profissional, através das Escolas Profissionais, tem tido uma importância decisiva para o desenvolvimento das regiões onde estas estão inseridas. Graças às Escolas Profissionais, a formação de técnicos especializados em determinadas áreas, veio colmatar imensas lacunas em algumas regiões do país, carenciadas de recursos humanos especializados, capazes de contribuir para o desenvolvimento desses mesmos territórios, através da promoção dos seus recursos e das suas potencialidades.
O presente relatório tem como objetivo tentar mostrar a importância que as disciplinas de história e de geografia podem ter no processo de formação dos alunos que frequentam os Cursos Profissionais na área do Turismo – Técnico de Turismo e Técnico de Turismo Ambiental e Rural – e no consequente desempenho dos mesmos, enquanto futuros técnicos na área do turismo.
Os resultados obtidos revelam que os conhecimentos adquiridos na área da história e da geografia nos cursos de Turismo, são os necessários e revelam-se fundamentais para um eficaz desempenho destes técnicos, nomeadamente na identificação, promoção e valorização de todo um património natural, ambiental, histórico, cultural e por consequência, para a promoção turística dos territórios.
Hoje em dia, é impensável formar técnicos de Turismo sem os necessários conhecimentos históricos e geográficos, fundamentais para a sua formação enquanto agentes divulgadores do nosso património.
Over the last few years vocational education, through vocational schools, has had a decisive importance for the development of the regions where it is located. Due to vocational schools the training of technicians, specialized in certain areas, has filled huge gaps in some regions of the country that needed specialized human resources capable of contributing to the development of those territories, through the promotion of their resources and their potential. This report tries to show the importance that the History and Geography subjects may have on the education of students attending the Professional Courses on the Tourism field - Tourism Technician and Environmental and Rural Tourism Technician – and their performance as future technicians on the tourism field. The results show that the knowledge acquired in the Tourism courses on the History and Geography field are needed and are fundamental for effective performance of these technicians, including the identification, promotion and exploitation of a natural environmental, historical and cultural heritage, therefore to promote tourism on the territories. Nowadays it is unthinkable to train tourism technicians without the necessary historical and geographical knowledge, essential to their formation as disseminator agents of our heritage.
