Resumo
A presente dissertação aborda os desafios da reabilitação física e funcional de edificações que serviram, no passado, para fins industriais.
O objeto de estudo é o antigo edifício da antiga Central Elétrica da Manutenção Militar de Lisboa. O trabalho centra-se na requalificação física de um edifício e na sua adaptação para um novo uso, demonstrando a possibilidade de associar novas funções com importância económica à recuperação de testemunhos de atividades industriais e à salvaguarda do património.
Para apoiar a proposta de intervenção no edifício da Central Elétrica, foi necessário:
• Enquadrar a importância do património industrial, nas sociedades atuais;
• Enquadrar histórica e urbanisticamente a antiga Manutenção Militar;
• Estudar exemplos recentes de reabilitação de edifícios.
A metodologia do projeto desenvolvida para o edifício da antiga Central Elétrica:
• Recupera a sua expressão arquitetónica exterior;
• Retoma e valoriza a sua especialidade interior;
• Permite a adequação a frações variadas e uma elevada adaptabilidade ao longo do tempo.
A proposta da metodologia arquitetónica da antiga Central Elétrica visa ainda, propor uma compatibilização e mesmo cumplicidade entre o espaço antigo e a intervenção contemporânea, respeitando as características autenticas e íntegras da preexistência.
The present dissertation addresses the challenges of physical and functional rehabilitation of buildings that have served in the past for industrial purposes. The object of study is the old building of the Eletric central of the Military Maintenance of Lisbon. The work focuses on the physical requalification of a building and its adaptation to a new use, demonstrating the possibility of associating new functions with economic importance to the recovery of testimonies of industrial activities and the safeguard of the patrimony. In order to support the intervention proposal in the building of the Eletric central, it was necessary to: • Framing the importance of industrial heritage in today's societies; • To frame historically and urbanistically the old Military Maintenance; • Study recent examples of building rehabilitation. The methodology of the project developed for the building of the old Eletric central: • Recovers its exterior architectural expression; • Resumes and values your inner specialty; • It allows the adaptation to varied fractions and a high adaptability over time. The proposal of the architectural methodology of the Eletric central aims also to propose a compatibilization and even complicity between the old space and the contemporary intervention, respecting the authentic and integral characteristics of the preexistence.
