I started with the presentation, justifying the motivation that led me to choose this subject, the methodologies used for research and investigation, even as the goals to be achieved with this dissertation. Also raised the issue of how to understand the abandonment of rural villages, how to recover them and revitalize them. In this work, we applied a set of various intervention principles to develop the recovery and rehabilitation of the schist villages in Portugal, so using a methodology of best practice interventions. Currently, there has been a demand in very broad rural heritage, which translates the concept of beauty, rest and stability, where all your assets should be preserved and protected, thus creating a new dynamic development. The historic villages, should be rehabilitated using a plan so fundamental in its renewal and rural development, providing better quality of life of its inhabitants, as well as developing local economies. All assets must be safeguarded in order to leverage yourself, at all aspects, landscape, buildings, history and culture, invest in tourism, thus promoting a set of specific aspects, its economic and sustainable development. Was sought , according to all the research investigation , go to my case study , Quintandona the village , a village belonging to the municipality of Penafiel. Thus, at first sought to characterize geographic and historically, as well as from the standpoint of demographic. After lengthy visits to the village, we see that it begins to be slowly recovered and rehabilitated under the law. We have no doubt that if we carry out the projects that are in progress, it will become, like the others, a historical village sustainable.
