A violência é
The practice of femicide is not restricted to the spheres of family relationships or intimacy, but they are in intimate relationships where this crime is most recurrent. Violence is mainly committed by men against women, with whom the victims have had some kind of current or past relationship. In an attempt to know how femicides in the context of intimacy relationships are published in the daily newspapers in Portugal, we sought to perform a general characterization of victims and murderers and the practice of crime, observe whether journalistic pieces promote the blaming of victims to the detriment of the unaccountability of the murderers, and verify whether the newspapers comply with the national recommendations of the dissemination of news related to domestic violence. To this end, the qualitative methodology was applied, using documentary research and content analysis of 20 journalistic pieces from two large national journalistic newspapers, 11 from Correio da Manhã and 9 from Jornal de Notícias, concerning 13 victims murdered in 2021. As a result, it was found that journalistic pieces tended to justify the practice of crime with arguments related to depressive symptoms and obsessive personality traits of homicidal son. The crime was represented as a "crime of passion", arising from an "impulsive" and "unexpected" action of the killer, apologizing to the killer, and creating a guilt around the victims, presenting them as "permissive" and "negligent" in the process of violence. These results allowed identifying the existence of incoherent and misadjusted discourses around domestic violence, referring marital conflict to the domestic sphere, and can therefore lead reading people to a distorted and biased position in the face of the phenomenon
