Reabilitação do património industrial : antigos armazéns da manutenção militar, em Lisboa

Abstract

Esta dissertação teve como objetivo perceber como se pode intervir no património industrial, quais as questões teóricas e conceptuais que uma intervenção deste tipo acarreta e quais as possíveis metodologias de atuação para a preservação da autenticidade e integridade desta especial categoria do património construído. A metodologia de trabalho seguida consistiu em: • Proceder a uma análise aprofundada do local da intervenção - antigos armazéns da Manutenção Militar, em Lisboa - verificando a sua história, enquadramento urbanístico e estudando as patologias dos imóveis; • Elaborar uma síntese sobre a evolução dos conceitos de salvaguarda do património industrial e o reflexo que estas teorias de conservação tiveram em Portugal; • Estudar exemplos de intervenção em património industrial, em Portugal e no estrangeiro, para perceber como adaptar edifícios antigos usados como unidades industriais aos requisitos espaciais, funcionais, de segurança e de conforto dos dias de hoje; • Propor uma estratégia de intervenção de reabilitação física e funcional dos edifícios estudados. O trabalho realizado permitiu verificar que é possível adaptar arquitetonicamente os antigos armazéns da Manutenção Militar a novos usos, preservando e reforçando o seu carácter industrial e mantendo a autenticidade e integridade dos seus elementos fundamentais.

This dissertation had as objective to understand how can intervene in the industrial heritage, what theoretical and conceptual issues that an intervention of this type entails and what possible methodologies of action for the preservation of the authenticity and integrity of this special category of built heritage. The methodology followed consisted of: • Conduct an in-depth analysis of the intervention site - former military maintenance warehouses in Lisbon - verifying its history, urban planning and studying the pathologies of buildings; • To elaborate a synthesis on the evolution of the concepts of safeguard of the industrial heritage and the reflection that these theories of conservation had in Portugal; • To study examples of intervention in industrial heritage, in Portugal and abroad, to understand how to adapt old buildings used as industrial units to the space, functional, safety and comfort requirements of today; • To propose a strategy of intervention of physical and functional rehabilitation of the studied buildings. The work carried out showed that it is possible to architecturally adapt the old Military Maintenance warehouses to new uses, preserving and reinforcing its industrial character and maintaining the authenticity and integrity of its fundamental elements.
