Resumo
Nos últimos anos, verifica-se um maior interesse das comunidades no sentido de
preservar o património urbano, nomeadamente os seus edifícios antigos, dotando-os
de condições para permitir o seu uso atual em condições de segurança e conforto, sem
perder o seu interesse histórico. Esta crescente consciência relativamente à
necessidade de proteção do património urbano é um desafio para a arquitetura.
A presente dissertação insere-se na temática de reabilitação de edifícios antigos com
elevado valor histórico-cultural.
Procura-se apresentar uma metodologia de intervenção adequada à reabilitação de
edifícios de génese pombalina, em Lisboa, de acordo com os conceitos atuais
aplicáveis à proteção do património urbano.
Como caso de estudo foi escolhido o denominado edifício das Merceeiras de El-Rei na
Rua Augusto Rosa, em Alfama.
A abordagem à temática escolhida é realizada através do estudo de um caso concreto,
aplicando uma metodologia específica de análise do edificado, incluindo:
• A caracterização do lugar, no seu contexto urbano;
• A evolução histórica do edificado;
• A análise da situação atual;
• A caracterização estrutural;
• Os valores a preservar e o potencial de reabilitação.
O estudo engloba, na sua parte final, uma estratégia de projeto de reabilitação do
edifício escolhido como forma de demonstrar a aplicabilidade da metodologia de
reabilitação usada.
In recent years, there has been a greater interest by the communities in the preservation of the urban heritage of the cities, namely their old buildings, endowing them with conditions to allow their current use in conditions of safety and comfort, without losing their historical interest. This growing awareness of the need to protect urban heritage is a challenge for architecture. This dissertation addresses the theme of rehabilitation of old buildings with high historical and cultural value. The aim is to present an intervention methodology suitable for the rehabilitation of Pombaline-style buildings in Lisbon, according to the current concepts applicable to the protection of the urban heritage. As a case study, the so-called Merceeiras de El-Rei building on Augusto Rosa street, in Alfama, was chosen. The approach to the chosen theme is carried out through the study of a specific case, applying a specific methodology of analysis of the building, including: • Characterization of the place, in its urban context; • Historical evolution of the building; • Analysis of the current situation; • Structural characterization; • Values to preserve and the potential for rehabilitation. The study includes, in its final part, a rehabilitation project strategy for the chosen building as a way of demonstrating the applicability of the rehabilitation methodology used.
