Resumo
A presente dissertação trata do estudo subordinado ao tema do Museu de
Arte enquanto edifício (equipamento público) sujeito a Ampliação.
Aborda o Museu através de um enquadramento geral, pretendendo
compreender a sua evolução e transformação tipológica ao longo da Historia.
Seguidamente à anterior contextualização, particulariza-se o estudo do
objecto em análise – o Museu, incidindo na temática da Ampliação, no panorama internacional e nacional, com a caracterização e análise de um conjunto de exemplos representativos.
Com o intuito de uma análise específica e concreta, implícita à temática
presente nesta dissertação, procedeu-se à selecção de casos de estudo, recaindo sobre dois museus portugueses, o Museu Municipal Amadeo Souza-Cardoso, em Amarante e o Museu Nacional Machado de Castro, em Coimbra.
No âmbito das disciplinas de Projecto 5.1 e Projecto 5.2, desenvolveu-se
um projecto arquitectónico que pretende materializar-se como resposta aos novos propósitos e desafios lançados sobre os Museus do século XXI, expondo-se a sua caracterização através de uma memória crítica e descritiva complementada por desenhos apresentados em anexo. A Dissertação enquadra-se na perspectiva de uma integração operativa e reflexiva com a prática do Projecto, de acordo com o Plano de Estudos do Curso, e por isso tal trabalho realizado naquelas disciplinas constitui parte indissociável do presente estudo.
Assim, e em coerência com o projecto realizado, não se pretende centrar o
tema na reabilitação em si dos edifícios preexistente mas sim privilegiar o
entendimento da importância da sua ampliação no carácter transformador da ideia de projecto, face à natureza, memória e lugar do edificado existente e respectiva articulação com o edificado novo e com a sua envolvente urbana.
This dissertation tackles the study of the theme Art Museum as building (public facility) subject to Extension process. It addresses the Museum through a general framework, intending to understand its typological evolution and transformation(s) throughout history. Following the general contextualization, the study of the object in question - the Museum, focusing on the theme of enlargement - is particularized in the international and national scene, through the characterization and analysis of a set of representative examples. In order to achieve a specific and detailed analysis - implied with the theme present in this essay - a case study selection process was established, setting the investigation over two Portuguese museums, the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, in Amarante and the National Museum Machado de Castro, in Coimbra. Within the disciplines of Draft 5.1 and 5.2, it was developed an architectural project - that aims materializing as an answer to new purposes and challenges posed on the Museums of the 21st century -, presented and described through a review and specification text, complemented by drawings available in attachment. This essay frames itself in a perspective of an operative and reflective integration with the practice of Project - according to the Course Syllabus - , thus such work, developed in those disciplines, is an integral part of this study. Consistent with the developed project, it is not intended to focus the theme itself in the rehabilitation of pre-existing buildings but rather focus on the understanding of the importance of its expansion in the transforming nature of the idea of project, considering the nature, memory, place of the existing building and its articulation with the newly built as well as its urban surroundings.
