O objetivo geral dessa investigação visa o estudo da origem da imagem e do interesse pelas profissões na área da contabilidade, na perspetiva dos alunos da Universidade Lusófona (ULHT), recorrendo a um inquérito feito a dois grupos de alunos (Licenciatura e Mestrado). Foram convidados a responder um total de 298 alunos, tendo sido obtidas 161 respostas (118 correspondem aos alunos de licenciatura e 43 alunos do mestrado). Os objetivos específicos consistem em identificar qual a origem da imagem dos alunos sobre a profissão de contabilista; averiguar se existem diferenças na origem desta imagem entre os alunos da licenciatura e os alunos do mestrado; analisar as características individuais dos alunos em relação a origem da imagem; identificar a profissão de maior interesse entre os alunos e analisar o motivo da escolha desta. Com os resultados obtidos, conclui-se que a origem da imagem dos alunos sobre a profissão de Contabilista está relacionada com as disciplinas ou cursos de contabilidade anteriormente frequentados. Foram identificadas diferenças entre os alunos da licenciatura e do mestrado em relação à origem da imagem, onde os contabilistas conhecidos representam uma maioria da influência por parte dos alunos da licenciatura ao contrário dos alunos do mestrado. A origem da imagem está associada as características individuais dos alunos, tais como idade e o género. Foram identificadas as profissões de Auditor Financeiro e Auditor Interno como as profissões de interesse total por parte dos alunos, estando este interesse associado ao gosto pela profissão como principal motivo da escolha. A profissão de Docente foi a que registou menor interesse entre as profissões na área da contabilidade.
The general objective of this investigation aims to study the origin of the image and interest in professions in the area of accounting, from the perspective of students at Lusófona University (ULHT), using a survey carried out among two groups of students (Bachelor's and Master's). A total of 298 students were invited to respond, obtaining 161 responses (118 corresponding to undergraduate students and 43 master's students). The specific objectives consist of identifying the origin of the students' image of the accounting profession; identify whether there are differences in the origin of this image between undergraduate and master's students; analyze the individual characteristics of students in relation to the origin of the image; identify the profession of greatest interest among students and analyze the reason for choosing this. With the results obtained, it is concluded that the origin of the students' image of the Accounting profession is related to the accounting subjects or courses previously studied. Differences were identified between undergraduate and master's students in relation to the origin of the image, where known accountants represent a majority of the influence on the part of undergraduate students as opposed to master's students. The origin of the image is associated with the individual characteristics of the students, such as age and gender. The professions of Financial Auditor and Internal Auditor were identified as professions of total interest to students, being associated with the taste for the profession as the main reason for choosing them. The profession of Teacher was the one that registered the least interest among the professions in the accounting area.
