Luxação da patela em animais de companhia

Abstract

O presente trabalho de final de estágio curricular foi realizado no âmbito da conclusão do curso de Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária, tendo sido abordadas as técnicas cirúrgicas para o tratamento da luxação patelar em animais de companhia, observadas durante o estágio no Hospital Veterinário da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária da Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. Neste trabalho abordaram-se as componentes anatómica e embriológica do joelho, a patologia de luxação da patela, os métodos diagnósticos associados e os tratamentos médicos e cirúrgicos disponíveis. Ao longo do estágio curricular foram observados quatro casos de luxação patelar, três deles em cães e um em gato. Foram realizadas técnicas cirúrgicas para a resolução da patologia tais como, desmotomia, imbricação do retináculo, aprofundamento do sulco troclear e transposição da tuberosidade da tíbia.

The current work was carried out as a part of the conclusion of the master’s degree in veterinary medicine having been approached the surgical for the treatment of patellar luxation in pets observed during the intership at the veterinary hospital of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty of the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. In this dissertation was addressed the anatomical and embryological components of the knee, the pathology of the patellar luxation, the associated diagnostic methods with reference of the medical and surgical treatment available. During the internship, four cases of patellar luxation were observed, three of which were in dogs and one in a cat. Surgical techniques such as desmotomy, imbrication of the retinaculum, trochlear groove deepening and tibial tuberosity transposition were performed to resolve the pathology.
