Serviços educativos e formação de utilizadores em bibliotecas públicas e na Biblioteca Municipal de Gondomar: um estudo de caso

Resumo
A presente investigação centra-se na problemática dos serviços educativos e da
formação de utilizadores nas bibliotecas públicas portuguesas pertencentes à Rede
Nacional de Bibliotecas Públicas.
Nesse enquadramento, faz-se uma revisão da literatura a nível nacional e
internacional que permitiu o aprofundamento de linhas de investigação e o estabelecimento
de novas bases e perspetivas de trabalho. Desenvolve-se uma reflexão a nível educativo,
sociológico e histórico no campo das bibliotecas públicas, fazendo referência, para além de
vários tópicos, à cultura organizacional, à gestão da qualidade, ao marketing, à
multiculturalidade, à diversidade e atualidade de públicos e suas problemáticas específicas.
O papel das novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação é também necessariamente
abordado e integrado no âmbito da leitura pública.
Ao nível das metodologias de pesquisa selecionadas optou-se por uma integração
de metodologias qualitativas e quantitativas.
A segunda parte da tese foca-se num estudo de caso desenvolvido a partir da
Biblioteca Municipal de Gondomar.
Reconhecendo, por fim, a atual pertinência, interesse social e relevância
educacional do tema estudado, faz-se uma necessária reflexão crítica sobre os
constrangimentos encontrados, as potencialidades detetadas e os desafios futuros
percecionados, inclusive quanto ao prosseguimento de novos estudos académicos nas
áreas de investigação em Educação, Informação e Bibliotecas.
This investigation centers itself in the problematic of educational services and user training in Portuguese public libraries that are part of the National Network of Public Libraries. In that structure a revision of national and international literature is made, which, allowed the widening of research lines and the establishment of new work perspectives and bases. A reflexion develops on the educational, sociological and historical level, in the field of public libraries, referring, among several topics, to the organizational culture, quality management, marketing, multiculturalism, and diversity and contemporaneity of audience as well as their specific problematics. The educational services made available by a representative national public and municipal libraries ensemble, typifying activities of greater emphasis. The role of Information and Communication Technologies is approached and integrates on the issues of public reading. Regarding the selected research methodologies, the choice was made to integrate quality and quantity methodologies. The second part of the thesis presents a case study developed from Biblioteca Municipal de Gondomar. Recognizing at the end the pertinence, social interest and educational relevance of the studied topic, a necessary critic reflexion is made about the constraints found, the detected potentialities and the perceived future challenges, including on follow up academic studies in investigating areas of Education and Information Libraries.
