A temática da presente tese insere-se no âmbito da “Cultura organizacional de boas escolas: o sentido e as práticas de lideranças”, o objetivo principal é descrever e analisar o sentido e as práticas subjacentes ao exercício das lideranças no contexto das “boas escolas”. O quadro teórico centra-se em três linhas orientadoras: i) cultura organizacional de escola; ii) conceção de “boas escolas” e iii) lógica das lideranças na escola democrática. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa, de carácter fenomenológico e de incidência descritiva e interpretativa, que integra instrumentação de natureza quantitativa consubstanciada na aplicação do questionário. Os procedimentos metodológicos recaíram sob o estudo de casos múltiplos. Pôde-se objetivar, identificar e caracterizar as especificidades intrínsecas de três escolas do 2º e 3º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, através da aplicação da seguinte instrumentação: i) fonte documental; ii) entrevistas dirigidas aos diretores de escola e iii) questionários dirigidos aos professores. A análise dos resultados aponta para o exercício da liderança democrática participada, sedimentada por uma cultura organizacional incrustada nos valores para uma cidadania democrática. A investigação realizada permitiu também, a construção das dimensões da liderança no contexto das “boas escolas”.
The theme of this thesis is inserted in the scope of “organizational culture of good schools: the meaning and practices of leadership”. Its main purpose is to describe and analyze the meaning and the practices underlying the exercise of leadership in the context of “good schools”. The theoretical frame focuses on three oriented lines: i) school organizational culture; ii) conception of “good schools”; iii) leadership logic in democratic schools. This is a qualitative study, with both a phenomenological character and a descriptive and interpretative incidence that incorporates quantitative instrumentation implied in the application of the questionnaire. The methodological procedures relapsed upon the study of multiple cases. Intrinsic specificities of three secondary schools were objectified, identified and characterized through the application of the following instrumentation: i) documentary source; ii) interviews destined to school headmasters and iii) questionnaires destined to teachers. The result analysis points out the practice of imparted democratic leadership strengthened by an organizational culture inlaid in the values for a democratic citizenship. The performed investigation also allowed the building of leadership dimensions in the scope of “good schools”.
