This study addresses the subject of endometritis in the mare due to its relevance and pertinence in equine reproductive medicine. Endometritis in the mare is, if not the most common pathology of the endometrium, as it is one of the main causes of infertility in the mare. It consists of inflammation of the endometrium, in the most superficial layer of the uterus, and can have various aetiologies, such as infectious (bacterial, fungal), and can even be caused by seminal plasma or sperm, as well as alterations to the uterine cleaning mechanisms (uterine clearance), among others, with the final consequence being infertility. In this work, five clinical cases of mares with endometritis were chosen, in which the gynaecological examinations, ultrasound scans, diagnostic methods and treatments carried out are described. An approach is taken to the various causes of endometritis, as well as the various methods of diagnosis and possible treatments. The cases were selected on the basis that they were all Streptococcus spp and had a population of lymphocytes present, which could indicate chronicity in the endometritis. As this is the most common reproductive disorder, it is extremely important to diagnose it early to prevent infertility.
