(46.65%) do sexo masculino. Os participantes foram posteriormente divididos em cinco
grupos, de acordo com a sua faixa etária (menos de 30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-64 e mais de 65
anos). Como protocolo de investigação foi usado um questionário sociodemográfico, a
Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS; Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999, 2016), a Hedonic and
Eudaimonic Motivations for Activities (HEMA-R; Huta & Ryan, 2010), a Satisfaction
With Life Scale (SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen & Griffin, 1985), o Mental Health
Continuum – Short Form (MHC – SF; Keyes, 2009) e a Extended Life Orientation Test
(ELOT - Chang, Maydeu-Olivares & D’Zurilla, 1997). Os resultados indicaram níveis
superiores de felicidade nos grupos etários correspondentes aos participantes mais
velhos, de acordo com as hipóteses propostas, sendo os resultados discutidos em função
da revisão de literatura efetuada.
In order to study the levels of happiness throughout life, and evaluate to what extent it followed the "U" form, a study was performed with a sample of 806 Portuguese citizens aged between 18 and 93 years age (M = 46.03, SD = 18.71), of which 450 (53.35%) were female and 376 (46.65%) male. The participants were then divided into five groups according to their age (less than 30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-64 and over 65 years). As research protocol was a used a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS; Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999, 2016), the Hedonic and Eudaimonic Motivations for Activities (HEMA-R; Huta & Ryan, 2010), the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen & Griffin, 1985), the Mental Health Continuum- Short Form (MHC - SF; Keyes, 2009) and the Extended Life Orientation Test (ELOT - Chang, Maydeu-Olivares & D'Zurilla, 1997). The results indicated higher levels of happiness in age groups corresponding to the older participants, according to the hypotheses proposed, the results being then discussed according to the theoretical review.
