Análise dos efeitos de aulas de zumba vs rpm na motivação, vitalidade, resposta afetiva e perceção de esforço

Resumo
Objetivo. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo perceber em que medida é que a existência de música associada ao exercício físico influencia aspetos psicológicos dos participantes como a motivação, vitalidade, resposta afetiva ao esforço, perceção de esforço, entre outras. Pretendeu também explorar diferenças nas mesmas variáveis entre praticantes de Zumba e de RPM.
Método. Numa primeira fase foi elaborada uma revisão sistemática de literatura com base em estudos maioritariamente experimentais, sobre a influência da música nas variáveis psicológicas referidas acima. A pesquisa foi realizada nas bases de dados PubMed, SPORTDiscus e PsycINFO, entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2018, e teve como referência o modelo PICO. Numa segunda fase foi realizado um estudo transversal com uma amostra de 86 praticantes (35.83±10.45 anos). A qualidade da motivação, a vitalidade, a resposta afetiva, a perceção de esforço e o efeito motivacional da música foram avaliados através de questionários. Foram utilizados testes T e correlações de Pearson para realizar as análises estatísticas.
Resultados. Na revisão sistemática de literatura foram encontrados 32 estudos, sendo 31 destes experimentais. Os resultados não revelaram um efeito consistente da música nas variáveis psicológicas em análise: a presença de música foi associada a maiores níveis de motivação em 3 artigos, a afetos mais positivos em 8 estudos e a menores níveis de perceção de esforço em 5, mas não teve qualquer efeito em 2, 6 e 16 investigações nas variáveis psicológicas anteriormente referidas comparativamente à sua ausência.
No estudo empírico observaram-se valores superiores na valência da resposta afetiva, nos níveis de afetos positivos e na vertente motivacional da música nos praticantes de Zumba (vs.RPM). Foram encontradas associações positivas entre a componente global da música e a motivação intrínseca, vitalidade, afetos positivos e valência afetiva para a amostra total e ainda relações positivas entre algumas características musicais e variáveis psicológicas. Verificou-se também maior número de associações para os praticantes de RPM (vs. Zumba).
Conclusão. Os resultados acerca dos efeitos da música em variáveis psicológicas como a motivação, a resposta afetiva e a perceção de esforço mostraram-se inconclusivos devido à sua inconsistência, sendo necessário aprofundar a investigação sobre o tema para reforçar o seu potencial como facilitador da adesão sustentada ao exercício.

For the total sample, we found positive associations among the global component of music and intrinsic motivation, vitality, positive affect and affective valence, and also positive relationships among some musical characteristics and psychological variables. Of note, was also the higher number of associations for the practitioners of RPM (vs. Zumba). Conclusion. Results regarding the effects of music on psychological variables such as motivation, affective response and perceived exertion were inconclusive due to its inconsistency. Further studies are needed to reinforce music’s potential as a facilitator of sustained adherence to exercise.
