Literature has identified correlations between psychopathy and the perpetration of intimate partner violence (IPV) offline; however, the relationship between psychopathy and the perpetration of IPV online has not been fully explored. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between psychopathy and the facets of psychopathy and the perpetration of online IPV, plus to analyze gender differences. The sample consisted of 535 Portuguese adults from the community, aged between 18 and 73, recruited through various online platforms, who answered the Inventory of Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory - Portuguese Version (CADRI-P) and the Short Version of the Self-Report Psychopathy Scale (SRP-SF). The results showed a positive and significant correlation between the affective, interpersonal and lifestyle facets of psychopathy and the perpetration of online IPV, with male perpetrators of online IPV obtaining higher scores on psychopathy, with a greater effect for the lifestyle and interpersonal facets. The results are in line with current literature and do not follow the same patterns found for offline IPV, highlighting the need for specific action, prevention, and intervention plans for online IPV. Keywords: online intimate partner violence, psychopathy, technologies, young adults
