This thesis investigates the intersection between immersive journalism, 360-degree production technologies, and information reception in the consumption of journalistic content. This research work in the field of journalism and immersive media has as its main empirical foundation the production of three 360-degree webdocumentaries developed during the doctoral program: "Learning from the Past – Everyone's Responsibility", "Nazaré: More than Sea, It's Woman”, and "Refugees 360 – The Challenges of Sheltering". The present study traces an evolutionary line of journalism, from the rise of the press to the major transformations brought about by new information and communication technologies, with a focus on immersive media. Through the analysis of the practical experiences, technical and narrative challenges were identified, as well as strategies to enhance the sensory and emotional engagement of audiences. The conclusions of this research indicate that 360-degree immersive journalism represents a significant evolution in the way journalistic narratives can promote involvement and engagement with audiences. The 360-degree web documentaries produced suggest that the integration of multisensory resources and the possibility of exploring the narrative environment contribute to a deeper and more memorable experience, expanding the potential for understanding and identification with the stories presented by journalists. Furthermore, the systematization of the processes and challenges encountered throughout the production enabled the development of practical recommendations that may guide future projects in the field for professionals, reinforcing the importance of experimentation and critical reflection for the advancement of contemporary journalism. Thus, this thesis contributes not only to the theoretical development of the field, but also to the consolidation of innovative practices that respond to the demands of increasingly connected and participatory audiences.
