A toxicidade geral do extrato
cromatografia a seco originou o abietano 6,7-dehidroroileanona (DeRoy, h= 47,28%).
Natural products are an important source of new compounds with therapeutic uses. The study and isolation of natural products can trigger the discovery of new drugs. Two Plectranthus genus species were used in this project, P. venteri and P. madagascariensis, both belonging to Lamiaceae family. The acetonic extract of the specie P. venteri was prepared by an ultrasonic extraction method (yield= 1,15%, w/w). The general toxicity of the extract was determined using the Artemia salina model (LC= 46,78%). Lastly, its antioxidant activity was evaluated by the DPPH method (AA= 3%). The essential oil was obtained from P. madagascariensis and the following isolation of the abietane 6,7-dehydroroyleanone (DeRoy, yield= 47,28%) by Dry-flash chromatography was performed. Using Artemia salina model, the isolated compound showed general toxicity (LC= 36,48%). In order to give continuity to this research, futures studies should be made based on this DeRoy molecule, for the discovery of new compounds with interesting biological activity.
