Introduction: In addition to its artistic component, creative dance also contributes to the development of physical strength in the classroom. This is most certainly regarded as an important, as well as an underlying, component of the child’s physical fitness, together with other physical capacities, such as speed, coordination, flexibility, cardiorespiratory fitness and agility, and vital for performing a great range of movements while dancing (Laban, 1990). A systematic review, the aim of which was to examine the scientific information available so as to understand the dynamics between creative dance and strength involved in the process, was conducted on primary school children. Method: A scientific research was carried out by PubMed and Google Scholar from January to March 2013. Following the reading of the title and abstract comprised of 40 articles of the utmost importance to the review, 20 case studies were selected for full reading, 7 of which were included. For each of them was extracted information related to the type and pattern of the research, sample, main results and conclusions. Results and conclusion: All the studies included in the review stress the importance of strength training for children, several studies showing various benefits and high strength levels in dancers.
