Resumo
Para algumas pessoas os cemitérios são lugares para homenagear pessoas que já partiram, lugares para prestar respeito aos entes-queridos, no entanto, existem por todo o mundo, pessoas que visitam os cemitérios no âmbito da atividade turística.
O Turismo Cemiterial está a ganhar expressão em todo o mundo, e também em Portugal onde já existem alguns cemitérios que fazem parte da Rota dos Cemitérios da Europa.
A presente dissertação é um estudo exploratório que tem como objetivo perceber se existe um conhecimento sobre o Turismo Cemiterial no geral e na Região do Porto e Norte de Portugal, em particular, e se existe uma motivação primária para a sua prática, ou se, pelo contrário, as visitas que os turistas fazem aos cemitérios são complementares do Turismo Cultural. No fundo, o objetivo desta dissertação também é mostrar o que é este turismo e “o que é oferecido e quem o procura; o porquê de ser amado por uns e odiado por outros, sem esquecer o contributo que este tipo de turismo tem tido para a valorização patrimonial em Portugal.” (Pegas, 2013, p. For some people, cemeteries are places to honor the lost person, places to respect the loved one, yet here are people all over the world who visit cemeteries as part of tourism. This type of Tourism is gaining expression all over the world, and also in Portugal where there are already some cemeteries that are part of the Route of the Cemeteries of Europe. This dissertation is an exploratory study whose objective is to understand if there is a knowledge about Cemiterial Tourism in general and in the Porto and the North Portugal Region, in particular, and if there is a primary motivation for the practice, or if is on the contrary, the visits that tourists make to cemeteries are complementary to Cultural Tourism. In the background, the purpose of this dissertation is also to show what this tourism is and “what it is offered and who is looking for it. The reason for being loved by others and hated by others, without forgetting the contribution to this type of tourism has had for an equity valuation in Portugal. " (Pegas, 2013, p. IV)
