Ultrapassando obstáculos: os colportores

Abstract

Uma das faces mais visíveis da acção da Sociedade Bíblica foi a desenvolvida pelos seus colportores. Verdadeiros “lançados” no Portugal rural, atrasado e com imensas carestias, viveram toda uma larga época em que se defrontaram com um misto de entusiasmo com algumas situações de clara perseguição. Este artigo centra-se nas figuras desses colportores, apresentando um largo grupo de biografias desses indivíduos.One of the most visible aspects of the action of the Bible Society was that carried out by its colporteurs. Truly “launched” in rural Portugal, undeveloped and with many needs, they lived during a long facing up to a mixture of enthusiasm with some situations of open persecution. This article concentrates on the figures of these colporteurs, presenting many biographies of these individuals.
