Resumo
Na última década, a violência com carácter religioso, provocada por grupos fundamentalistas, voltou a dominar a cena internacional. Nesta breve reflexão, procuramos perceber o alcance de dita violência: será ela intrínseca ao fenómeno religioso(antropologia giradiana) ou expressão de hegemonia das grandes religiões monoteístas (interpretação laicista)? Os textos religiosos destas últimas conservam a memória daviolência: martírios, massacres e guerras santas. E se os responsáveis religiosos advogam que a mensagem central desses textos é uma mensagem de paz e de tolerância, eles não conseguem conter os grupos extremistas que clamam pela «guerra santa».
In the last decade, the violence with a religious nature, caused by fundamentalist groups, came to dominate the international scene. In this brief discussion we seek to realize the extent of such violence: it is intrinsic to religion (girardian’s anthropology) or expression of hegemony of the greatmonotheistic religions (secular interpretation)? The religious texts of the latter retain the memory of violence:martyrdom, holy wars andmassacres. And if the religious leaders advocate that the centralmessage of these texts is amessage of peace and tolerance, they can not hold extremist groups that call for “holy war”.
