Resumo
A progressiva redução da estrutura comunitária até ao individualismo moderno potenciou a sobrecarga dos sentimentos de culpa no indivíduo, geradores de mau estar e angústia. O fenómeno da devoção mariana em Fátima tem permitido o desenvolvimento de algumas práticas místicas, tipicamente pagãs, como a simonia e o sacrifício auto-infligido, como estratégias de alívio da angústia, ao arrepio da própria lógica doutrinária cristã.
The progressive reduction of the community structure up to the modern individualism has imposed new feelings of guilt on the individual. These generate anguish and a general bad mood. The Marian devotion phenomenon in Fátima has permitted the development of some typically pagan mystical practices, such as simony and self-inflicted sacrifice. These are used as a strategy to combat feelings of anguish, going against the logic behind Christian dogma.
