Resumo
O texto aqui apresentado centra-se na evolução histórica que o trabalho da Sociedade Bíblica em Portugal sofreu, elegendo três grandes marcos: 1809, data das primeiras actividades em território nacional através de impressão e distribuição de Novos Testamentos e, mais tarde, Bíblias completas; 1835, altura em que é dado um certo grau de institucionalização ao trabalho existente, mediante a criação de uma Comissão em Lisboa;e 1864, ano da definitiva implantação institucional com uma certa autonomia. Nesta três fases, são desenvolvidos os aspectos da organização institucional, não se esquecendo a componente humana, realçando o facto deste movimento ter sempre contado com pessoas das mais variadas tendências doutrinárias e confessionais da cristandade.
This text centres on the historical evolution that the work of the Bible Society suffered in Portugal choosing three main marks: 1809, date of the first activities on national territory by the printing and distribution of New Testaments and, later complete Bibles; 1835, when a certain degree of institutionalization was given to the existing work by the creation of a Committee in Lisbon; and 1864, year of the definite institutional implantation with some autonomy. In these three phases, aspects of the institutional organization are developed, not forgetting the human component, enhancing the fact that this movement has always dealt with people of various doctrinal tendencies and confessions of Christianity.
