Avaliação neuropsicológica de indivíduos de um programa de substituição em baixo limiar de exigência

A presente investigação pretendeu caracterizar o perfil neuropsicológico dos utentes
do PSBLE. Este estudo exploratório teve como objectivo verificar se existiam diferenças no
desempenho neuropsicológico entre os utentes do PSBLE e a respectiva amostra de controlo,
ao nível do funcionamento cognitivo geral nomeadamente a atenção focalizada, o
funcionamento executivo, a memória e a velocidade de processamento de informação.
O grupo clínico foi constituído por 88 participantes pertencentes ao PSBLE da
Associação Ares do Pinhal que visa a inclusão social de indivíduos com consumos abusivos
de substâncias psicoativas ilícitas, concretamente de opiáceos, como a heroína.
A amostra de controlo composta por 30 indivíduos, foi recolhida com base nas
características sócio-demográficas conhecidas do grupo clínico que possam influenciar os
rendimentos neuropsicológicos, nomeadamente a idade, habilitações literárias, situação
profissional e residencial.
Os resultados demonstram que existem diferenças significativas do desempenho
neuropsicológico entre os dois grupos, indicando um melhor desempenho para o grupo clínico
comparativamente ao grupo de controlo. No entanto, olhando apenas para o grupo clínico, os
resultados indicam a existência de alterações ao nível do funcionamento cognitivo geral e da
capacidade de concentração.
Conclui-se que o desempenho neuropsicológico dos utentes do PSBLE demonstra ser
superior em comparação ao respectivo grupo controlo. Contudo, o desempenho dos utentes do
PSBLE aparenta estar comprometido em alguns domínios, sugerindo uma necessidade de
intervenção junto dos utentes do PSBLE.
The present investigation intended to characterize the neuropsychological profile of PSBLE users. This exploratory study aimed to verify if there were differences in the neuropsychological performance between PSBLE users and the respective control sample, in terms of general cognitive function, namely focused attention, executive functioning, memory and speed of information processing. The clinical group consisted of 88 participants from the PSBLE of the Ares do Pinhal Association, aimed at the social inclusion of individuals with abusive consumption of illicit psychoactive substances, specifically opiates, such as heroin. The control sample consisted of 30 individuals, based on the socio-demographic characteristics known in the clinical group that may influence neuropsychological performance, such as age, literacy, occupational and residential status. The results demonstrate that there are differences in neuropsychological performance between the two groups, improving the performance of the clinical group compared to the control group. However, looking only at the clinical group, the results indicate alterations in general cognitive function and concentration. It is concluded that the neuropsychological performance of PSBLE users is superior in relation to the control group. However, the performance of PSBLE users may be compromised in some domains, suggesting a need for intervention among PSBLE users.
