This research aims to explore the process of constructing ambiguous characters in cinematic narratives that address child sexual abuse. The objective is to investigate narrative and methodological techniques that enable the creation of a feature-length screenplay, which constitutes the practical component of the thesis project. The goal is to create a screenplay that is engaging for the audience while also fostering an understanding of the complexities and motivations behind such aggressions, as well as their long-term consequences for the victim. To this end, research was conducted on the familial, social, and emotional contexts that generate trauma, utilizing studies in the field of trauma. Through a multidisciplinary methodological approach that included behavioral sciences, film analysis, and screenwriting studies, a fluid intersection of distinct but converging knowledge was promoted to achieve the proposed objectives. Specifically, the creation from scratch of the feature-length screenplay ‘Mergulho na Noite,’ which is expected to promote some reflection on the addressed topic.
