This dissertation has as the ultimate purposepave the way for a fruitful debate between Marxism and Political Science. Thereunto seeks to reply the questions posed by the mainstream of the field against marxism as an alleged economism. The dissertation begins relocating, from the works of the founders of Marxism, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and its most prominent followers, Vladimir Lenin, Antonio Gramsci and Louis Althusser, the true relationship between the ideal and material spheres, and thus between economics and politics. As an element exemplifying the importance of the political and ideal sphere for Marxism will deal with that element that provides social action on itself and its material base, the consciousness. It will then be the object of this dissertation the study of a form of consciousness criticized by Marxism under the name of ideology: mystified consciousness. This will be expressed in two ways: the ideology and myth. Defines then the two concepts in an innovative way then ends with the study of a specific case of ideology, the sebastianism, in its distinct expression in the Brazilian backlands. We will focus on one of the lesser-known movements, the Kingdom's Enchanted Stone of Rodeador.
