Childhood Experiences Scale (BCES) e o Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships
Inventory – Short Form (CADRI-S).
The problem of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) may be associated with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) and Positive or Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCE). The aim of the study was evaluating the relationship between ACE, BCE and IPV victimization; explore differences between IPV victims and non-victims regarding ACE and BCE, differences between male and female IPV victims regarding ACE and BCE and the moderating effect of BCE on ACE and IPV victimization. A sociodemographic questionnaire was used, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), Benevolent Childhood Experiences Scale (BCES), and the Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory – Short Form (CADRI-S). Non-victims of IPV demonstrate more adversity than victims; there were no differences between male and female victims of IPV in terms of ACE and BCE. ACE are weakly correlated with the IPV, the different dimensions of ACE are strongly correlated and a negative correlation between ACE and BCE. BCE were not a significant moderator in the relationship between ACE and IPV victimization. Implications for the prevention and intervention were discussed. Key-words: intimate partner violence, adverse childhood experiences, benevolent childhood experiences, prevention, intervention.
