dc.description.abstractO agente etiológico da circovirose é um vírus de pequenas dimensões, ao qual se deu o nome de Porcine circovirus (PCV). O PCV é considerado um vírus ubiquitário, que causa doença exclusivamente em suínos e já foi isolado em todos os continentes. O objectivo do ensaio foi avaliar a segurança e a eficácia de uma única vacinação de leitões às três semanas de idade, com PCV-Mhyo (MSD), em comparação com a vacinação standard (Vacinas Stellamune e Porcilis PCV em separado) da exploração em questão, para a prevenção de sinais clínicos de PCV2 e o aparecimento de lesões pulmonares em matadouro compatíveis com infecção por Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. Os leitões foram pesados em 4 momentos, sendo o primeiro aos 7 dias de idade, o segundo no desmame, o terceiro na mudança completa para a ração 800, e por último foram pesados em grupos, no fim da recria (10 semanas de idade), antes de iniciarem a engorda. A eficácia de segurança e protecção de uma nova vacina de dose única contendo Circovírus Suino tipo 2 (PCV2) e antigénio M. hyopneumoniae - Porcilis® PCV M Hyo - foi avaliada em estudos de campo e de inspeção em matadouro. Foram observadas melhorias a nível de crescimento com esta nova vacina, sendo que dentro das 4 pesagens realizadas por leitão, a única pesagem que não registou melhorias em relação à vacina Stellamune + PCV, foi a pesagem aos 7 dias. As restantes pesagens registaram uma melhoria significativa, sendo que além desse parâmetro, foi obtida uma ligeira variação negativa na classificação spes e ligeira melhoria na classificação de lesões de pleuresia em matadouro.pt
dc.description.abstractThe etiologic agent of circovirus is a small virus, called the Porcine circovirus (PCV). PCV is considered a ubiquitous virus, which causes disease exclusively in pigs and has been isolated on all continents. The aim of the trial was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a single threeweek- old piglet vaccination with MSD PCV-Mhyo compared to standard vaccination of the animals for the prevention of clinical signs of PCV2 and the occurrence of pulmonary lesions in a slaughterhouse compatible with Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection. The piglets were weighed 4 times, the first at 7 days of age, the second at weaning, the third when they changed to the 800 ration, and finally at the end of the rearing period (10 weeks of age), before beginning fattening. The safety and protective efficacy of a new single dose vaccine containing Circovirus Swine type 2 (PCV2) and M. hyopneumoniae antigen - Porcilis ® PCV M Hyo - was evaluated in the field and in the slaughterhouse inspection studies. Growth improvements were observed with this vaccine, and within the 4 weightings carried out per piglet, the only one that did not show improvements in relation to the Stellamune + PCV vaccine was the 7 day weighing. The remaining weightings registered an improvement and besides this characteristic, a slight negative variation was obtained in spes classification and a slight improvement in the classification of pleurisy lesions in slaughterhouse.en
