Nordeste do Brasil.
The aim of our research is to study how parents, teachers and students envisage street children in two state schools located in the municipality of Bom Jesus/PI, in the south of the state, abundant in water, rich in agriculture in the Northeastern region of Brazil. Even though the city presents economic growth, according to politicians, it is still within those that are socio-economically excluded. The theoretical and methodological foundation of our work will rely on studies undertaken by authors such as Zoran Roca, Vicente Celestino in what concerns this same theme in their places of origin and, concerning children living in the streets we shall study Antônia Lima, Maria Vidigal as well as guidelines provided by the book Integrated Policies for the guarantee of rights (PAICA-RUA Org., 2002).These were the studies that allowed us to understand the situation of these street children, their families and the action of the school and society towards them. We decided for qualitative research because, through the interviews, questionnaires and drawings it was possible for us to detect the severe reality of these children’s daily lives. On analyzing the situation of these children we concluded that it is caused by a socio-economic and family problem, which affects a small part of the population that is socially excluded, without hope of recovery, for these children consider themselves to be discriminated, humiliated, but autonomous, limitless, without order. We see through the vision of the agents mentioned in this research, in the interviews, questionnaires and drawings, on the one hand, just how difficult life is for these outcast children due to the most varied problems and, on the other, they cry out for “help” so that is will be possible to rescue these children and provide them better and more just social conditions.
