Neste estudo, a amostra
Stress overload can be defined as the perception of lack of resources to deal with difficult situations, which will contribute to the development of other problems. The objective of the present study was to carry out the translation, cultural adaptation and validation of the Stress Overload Scale - Short (ESS-R) into Portuguese, as well as to verify its psychometric properties. In this study, the sample includes 309 adults, with an average age of 38 years (SD = 12.2). The evaluation protocol included a sociodemographic data sheet, the ESS-R, the Brief COPE and the Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scales. The data were collected through a digital platform. Two factors were identified, organized differently from the original version of the ESS-R. The internal consistency values were very good for the subscales Perception of Disability (α = .85) and Psychological Overload (α = .91). In the validity of known groups, there was a multivariate effect of gender, age group, professional situation and psychiatric illness. The results demonstrate that the Portuguese version of the ESS-R is a reliable and valid scale for measuring stress overload in adults.
