The infection control and prevention is a current and debated topic that keeps on be-ing a target of investigations. However in Portugal there is a lack of data on this topic, namely in radiology. The risk of hospital infections with increasing number of examinations and the new methods of diagnosis has seen an increase on these. The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge and perception of 60 radiog-raphers at Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Central regarding ICP by submitting 4 groups through a questionnaire. Most of the radiographers answered to three correct answers in regards to hospital infections, 33.3%. 75% answered that they were aware of basic precautions (PB) for ICP, although 73.3% said that they felt the need of training in this area. Half of the partici-pants affirmed that the main reason for not adhering to the measures of ICP were due to the decreased importance of the same. 45% agreed and 28.3% totally agreed that a manual of ICP in radiology would allow many problems, doubts to be solved/ prevented. A need of producing protocols and carrying out regular training on the theory and practice of ICP was identified.
