Violência doméstica contra homens: perspetivas de vítimas e técnicos

Em âmbito nacional observa-se um desconhecimento sobre as dinâmicas que envolvem a vitimação masculina no contexto de violência doméstica. O presente estudo apresenta como objetivos gerais a caracterização socio-afetivamente do homem vítima de violência doméstica em situação de acolhimento em Portugal, e identificar a perceção do Técnico de Apoio à Vítima (TAV) face a violência doméstica contra os homens. Foi utilizada uma abordagem metodológica qualiquantitativa, recorrendo a instrumentos distintos para a recolha de dados, a entrevista semiestruturada e o inquérito por questionário A nossa amostra compreende dois grupos, oito homens vítimas de violência doméstica acolhidos na “Casa Abrigo para Homens” e 30 TAV da APAV. Alguns dos resultados mais relevantes obtidos demonstram que a maioria dos homens acolhidos como vítimas da violência doméstica possuem algum tipo de fragilidade física, os agressores não são exclusivamente a mulher companheira, estas vítimas demonstram muita resistência à denúncia, e o sentimento de medo, humilhação e vergonha persistem na maioria dos casos. As características e perfil do homem vítima de violência doméstica em contexto nacional comprovou ser desconhecido, nomeadamente pelos próprios técnicos especializados na matéria. Os apoios disponíveis para esta vítima masculina não são equivalentes com os que existem para a mulher.

Nationwide, there is a lack of knowledge about the dynamics that involve male victimization in the context of domestic violence. The present study presents as general objectives to characterize socio-affectively the man victim of domestic violence in shelter situation in Portugal and to identify the perception of Victim Support Technicians (TAV) in relation to domestic violence against men. A qualitative and quantitative methodological approach was used, using different instruments for data collection, the semi-structured interview and the questionnaire survey. Our sample comprises two groups, eight male victims of domestic violence sheltered at the “Casa Abrigo para Homens” and 30 TAV from APAV. Some of the most relevant results obtained show that the majority of men sheltered as victims of domestic violence have some type of physical fragility, the aggressors are not exclusively the female partner, these victims show a lot of resistance to press charges, and the feeling of fear, humiliation and shame persist in most cases. The characteristics and profile of the male victim of domestic violence in a national context proved to be unknown, namely by the technicians specialized in the matter.
