bom exame otológico, bem como a realização de citologias auriculares associadas ao mesmo;
estudar e compreender otalgia canina.
Otites infecciosas detiveram a maioria
Otitis externa is a disorder of great importance in small animal clinic, not only because of the high percentage of cases but also for treatment failure or poor diagnosis and / or therapy. The objectives of this study were to explore intrinsic factors of otitis externa, and how these affect the development of the same; show the importance of a good otologic examination and ear cytology; study and understand canine otalgia. This study was preformed from May 25th to February 29th 2011 in two Veterinary institutions, in which were observed and statistically analyzed 30 dogs with uni or bilateral otitis externa. All sampling in this study was subject to otologic examination, which includes a medical history, otoscopy and cytological examination, and inspection of the presence of ear pain. The pure breeds as well as animals with drooping ears were most affected by otitis externa. The cases of acute otitis were observed more than in relation to the opposite situation. The presence of lesions in the opening of the ear canal was associated with the presence of external otitis, as well as the presence of hair within it. Infectious otitis arrested most cases, as the presence of Malassezia spp. The purulent content was always associated with the presence of infectious agents. The test "pressure on the tragus" was invariably associated with more otalgia canine made in the various parameters.
