Dermatophytosis corresponds to a fungal infection located in the superficial layer of the horse’s skin and other keratinized structures. It can put at risk not only his well-being but also those who handle him. Besides, the interdiction on participating in exhibitions or competitions leads to implications for their performance and economic losses. Its resolution goes through topical treatment and/or systemic with antifungal agents, as well as the enforcement of various hygiene and disease control measures. In the present work, a study was conducted to investigate an outbreak of dermatophytosis in fourteen horses that belong to the Estado Maior do Exército, with clinical signs compatible with the disease. In this sense, a brief description of the daily routine of the stud was described, including the risk factors associated with the disease and the clinical presentation of the animals. Subsequently, a Biosecurity Plan was created for the control and prevention of dermatophytosis, which was drawn up based on the critical points identified in the stud farm of the Escola de Armas and, consequently, applied exclusively to this location. Concluding, the application of measures to control and prevent infectious diseases is a significant task of the control of dermatophytosis, as well as the application of an education and training plan to all workers involved.
