The Brazilian educational policy proclaims the need for institutional care for all young people and it is important to emphasize the rights of a quality education in life, aimed at the full development of capacities, affective, ethical, interpersonal relationship and social insertion, as determined by the guidelines. However, one of the challenges facing public and municipal institutions is the adaptation of these young people to the school environment. In this perspective, the objective of the research was to understand how school management is implemented the democratization of the school and its educational practices and to what extent the democratized action of the school has contributed to the improvement of educational practices. In order to do so, two schools were selected in accordance with this proposal, where it was sought to understand a process that involves a network of relationships that implies the public school and municipal school, its managers and its technical staff. The methodology used was a descriptive, qualitative approach. The field data were collected through direct and spontaneous interviews with two managers, two pedagogues and two teachers. The data, after being treated, analyzed and interpreted, allowed to reach the discussion of the results and the conclusions. It was concluded that there is a set of actions that characterize the pedagogical work and, therefore, the management team fulfills its mandate in a democratic way, where everyone participates and contributes to the improvement of the education and formation of the character of the students in a critical way. The present study reveals that the different levels of training of the subjects studied do not interfere with the way they conceive the care and education of the young.
