dc.description.abstractO presente trabalho é realizado na sequência da conclusão do estágio curricular no Hospital Veterinário do Atlântico, tem como tema a luxação patelar em canídeos. Pretendeu-se com a realização do mesmo desenvolver esta temática, com especial foco na fisiopatogenia, no seu diagnóstico e no tratamento cirúrgico da mesma. Para tal, realizou-se uma introdução teórica incluindo a origem, anatomia e função da articulação do joelho, uma descrição da fisiopatogenia da luxação patelar, o diagnóstico, o tratamento da mesma e a apresentação de 4 casos clínicos com resolução cirúrgica acompanhados durante a realização do estágio curricular. Nos casos clínicos presentes e após avaliação individual de cada animal, foram utilizadas técnicas cirúrgicas corretivas adaptadas a cada caso. Alguns casos requereram a utilização de uma combinação de técnicas cirúrgicas na resolução da patologia. Os casos descritos foram tratados com sucesso, não apresentando sintomatologia clínica após o período de recuperação pós-cirúrgica, tendo sido constatado um retorno da utilização normal do membro intervencionado. dc.description.abstractThe current work is carried out following the conclusion of the curricular internship at the Hospital Veterinário do Atlântico, with the theme of canine patellar luxation. The aim of this report was to describe the canine patellar luxation, with special focus on the pathophysiology of this disease, its diagnosis and its surgical treatment. Therefore, a theoretical introduction was carried out including the embryological origin, the anatomy and the function of the stifle joint, a description of the pathophysiology of patellar luxation, the diagnosis and treatment of the disease and the presentation of 4 clinical cases with surgical treatment followed during the curricular internship. On the referred clinical cases, after individual evaluation of each animal, adapted to each patient corrective surgical techniques were performed. Some cases required the use of a combination of surgical techniques in order to treat the disease. The described cases were successfully treated, with no clinical symptoms after the post-surgical recovery period, and a return to normal use of the operated limb was observed.
