Peers victimization during the adolescence has implications for young people's mental health as well as for their self-efficacy beliefs. The present study aimed to analyse the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between victimization and mental health (psychopathology and well-being). A total of 228 adolescents, aged from 12 to 17 years old, accepted to participate. The results demonstrated the relationship between the experiences of victimization and the psychological functioning of adolescents, and specifically, the mediating role of self-efficacy beliefs. Higher levels of psychological victimization are associated with poorer mental health outcomes through lower self- efficacy beliefs. This study provides relevant results for practice, namely for the prevention of adolescent victimization experiences, as well as for the promotion of mental health and self-efficacy beliefs of adolescents.
