dc.description.abstractO Cavalo Puro-Sangue Lusitano é a raça autóctone de equinos mais importante em Portugal, demonstrando aptidão para o Ensino. Desde há alguns anos esta raça tem vindo a participar em diversas provas internacionais, tendo sido classificados alguns deles no ranking individual de Ensino da Federação Equestre Internacional (FEI) no ano 2014. O objetivo deste estudo foi observar se existem diferenças morfológicas entre os animais que participavam em provas internacionais, comparativamente com os animais classificados no ranking, sendo possível estabelecer umas diretrizes de seleção para os criadores orientadas de forma a obter animais que sobressaiam nas provas de Ensino. Encontraram-se diferenças significativas entre distintos parâmetros morfológicos para todos os fatores avaliados, assim como correlações significativas entre o ranking FEI e os parâmetros morfológicos “Peitoral” (r = 0,14), “Membros” (r = 0,08), “Altura ao garrote” (r = -0,13) e “Pontuação Total” (r = -0,07), de modo que os animais que tinham melhores classificações no ranking FEI foram aqueles com menor pontuação no “Peitoral” e nos “Membros”, com “Altura” maior e com uma melhor “Pontuação Total” Morfológica. Por outro lado, realizou-se uma análise genealógica do Pedigree onde se encontraram diferentes linhas de fundadores nos animais que estavam classificados no ranking FEI.pt
dc.description.abstractThe Purebred Lusitano Horse is the most important native breed in Portugal, showing aptitude for Dressage discipline. In recent years this breed has participated in several international competitions being some of their animals classified in the individual International Equestrian Federation (FEI) ranking for Dressage in 2014. The main objective of this study was to analyze whether there are morphological differences between the Lusitano horses participating in international events and those classified in the FEI ranking, being possible to establish some selection guidelines for breeders to get animals that excel on Dressage competitions. Statistically significant differences were found between different morphological parameters for all factors evaluated. Furthermore, statistically significant correlations were also found between FEI Ranking and the morphological parameters “Chest” (r = 0.14), “Legs” (r = 0,08), “Height at withers” (r = -0.13) and “Total Score” (r = -0.07), so that the animals that were rated in the FEI ranking were those that obtained lower scores on the “Chest” and the “Legs”, with higher “Heights” and better ratings for Morphological “Total Score”. Moreover, a pedigree analysis was developed, finding different founder lines for those animals that were ranked in the ranking FEI.en
